The R&D Kazakhstan Engineering Drone Cup National Championship was held in Astana.

On August 19, 2026, the «R&D Kazakhstan Engineering Drone Cup National Championship» in programmable drones and drone racing was held in Astana, with the support of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and at the university's facilities. The championship was held as part of the project "Creating an Innovative Integrated Product in the Drone Industry Using Advanced Artificial Intelligence Technologies." The championship was organized by the «R&D Center «Kazakhstan Engineering» LLP. The total prize fund for the championship was 10 million tenge.

The championship brought together 61 participants—young engineers, programmers, designers, operators, and drone technology enthusiasts from across Kazakhstan. Participants demonstrated their skills in piloting, programming, electronics, and the development of autonomous drone systems.

Drone racing required athletes to demonstrate high reaction speed, precise control, and mastery of the course. In the programmable drones category, participants applied engineering and algorithmic solutions to create and configure autonomous control systems.

The competition provided a platform for exchanging experiences, identifying promising specialists, and developing young people's competencies in engineering, IT, and unmanned technologies. Participants were able to apply the knowledge they gained in the classroom to real-world engineering tests, test their technical solutions in practice, and develop skills in teamwork, finding innovative solutions, and quickly responding to emerging challenges.

Today, UAVs are used in industry, agriculture, logistics, cartography, monitoring, and other sectors. Therefore, developing Kazakhstan's own engineering school and training specialists capable of creating and implementing modern technological solutions is of particular importance for Kazakhstan.

The «R&D Kazakhstan Engineering Drone Cup» creates conditions for the professional development of young Kazakhstani specialists and students, helping them unlock their technical potential and move from academic development to the creation of their own technological projects. Holding such events fosters young people's interest in engineering, fosters the development of a new generation of developers, and supports the development of domestic unmanned and digital solutions.
